Hi! Welcome to my page! I’m Dr. Stella, a practicing nephrologist and writer who focuses on the human experience of illness, care, and clinical decision-making. Over the years, I’ve learned to listen, learn, and lead with heart as I get to know my patients as human beings. This allows me to better serve the people entrusting me with their care. My debut book, The Other Side of the Bed, combines medical expertise with reflective insight to advocate for patient-centered care.
My undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, followed by medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. My Internal Medicine residency was at Loyola University Medical Center, and I pursued nephrology training at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Currently, I’m practicing at Kidney Care Center, and I live in the Chicagoland area with my husband and two daughters.
